Hello! My name is Natalie Jahn, I am a craft teacher. How and why?
After 20 years of being a stay-at-home mom, I'm hitting that point in life people always said would come, that time where rediscovering myself and empty nesting meet up. I knew this phase was inevitable, and in planning for it, I earned my teaching degree because teaching was always my career of choice and I have a very supportive husband. I graduated as COVID hit. I taught for a couple of years, walked away and became a bus driver! I love driving a bus, yet I still knew I would need something more to keep myself busy in the years to come.
That's when my absolute love for crafting filled hours of feeling alone, or wondering what I was supposed to be doing if tending to everyone else in my life wasn't so needed anymore. I had a few craft nights like I used to years ago, teaching my friends how to make chunky blankets, playing with watercolors, clay, whatever they wanted to tackle for fun.
Teaching craft classes is not new to me. I taught craft classes for students in my local school district, but that was over 20 years ago, and here I am again, this time with adults!
Why crafting? Using your hands, thinking outside the box, following steps, understanding how to create something out of nothing, reinventing an older item that was headed to the trash, anxiety release, accomplishment, friendship bonding...why NOT craft?
